Five tents were on fire in the town set up in front of the Seym – the fire brigade informed on Saturday morning. We received the first information on Contact 24.
The fire occurred on Friday night from Saturday. As reported by Reporter 24, the fire appeared around 2 o’clock at Matejki Street.
The event was confirmed by the senior captain Wojciech Kapczyński, the press officer of the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service of the Capital City of Warsaw Of Warsaw. – The notification about a fire in a tent town on Matejki Street was received at 02.03. The first host confirmed the incident. The fire was in a developed phase, involving five tents. People staying in the town left the place covered by the fire on their own. We have no information about the injured. During the intervention, several gas cylinders were removed, but I have no information about an explosion – he said.
– Upon arrival at the site, a two-pronged action was put in place. One stream of water was directed directly at the objects affected by the fire, while the other was poured over the neighboring tents. All elements have been checked with thermal imaging cameras. There were three units of the State Fire Service on the spot. The works ended at 3:45 – added Kapczyński.
Police: five tents burned down
The information about the fire was also confirmed in social media by the Warsaw Police Headquarters. “A very dangerous incident took place in front of the Seym. Police officers on night duty noticed a fire in the tent, and at the same time we also received a report from the WCPR. The officers woke up three men and then led them to a safe place” – reads KSP on Twitter.
“Unfortunately, 5 out of 7 tents were burned. During our operations, 11 gas cylinders were secured. The most important information, however, is that thanks to the quick reaction of the policemen, nothing happened to anyone. The activities are ongoing” – added the police later.
