A pipe burst on Puławska Street. Water poured into the Szustrów and Promenada parks. The waterworks located the failure, turned off the tap and started repairs. One building is cut off from the water.
We received the first information about the incident on Kontakt 24. “Park Promenada is being flooded due to a burst pipe,” wrote a reader.
Mateusz Szmelter, a reporter for tvnwarszawa.pl, was on site. – The leak was at Puławska Street, near Szustrów Park, in the area of Andrzeja Panufnika Avenue. The stream of water flowed along the escarpment along the park, reached the Szuster palace, surrounding it with two streams, and then descended along the main stream to the Promenada park and stopped near the Promenada pond – the reporter reported.
As he added, the largest flood was in Szustrów Park. – There are wet sections on the alleys and there are leaves and mud on them. There is water down at the Promenada pond, the reporter said.
A pipe running under the park burst
We asked about the situation at the Municipal Water and Sewerage Company.
– We have a failure on Puławska Street at number 55. There was an outflow of water there, the failure is being repaired. We estimate that – barring any unexpected difficulties – it will be removed today. There is one building without water at the moment, we have provided the residents with a water tanker – said Marek Smółka, spokesman for MPWiK, on Wednesday afternoon.
He clarified that the cause of the flooding was a burst pipe with a diameter of 150 millimeters. It runs exactly under the park.
