On Saturday, in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance at 12 Świętokrzyska Street, a demonstration of budget sector employees against the planned freezing of their wages next year. The protesters passed in front of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
The protest was attended, among others, by employees of courts, prosecutor’s offices, tax offices, museums, customs and tax offices, civilian employees of the Ministry of National Defense, employees of the Police, Prison Service and voivodeship offices. Trade unionists from various parts of the country came to the demonstrations.
They want raises
The protest started at noon from the Ministry of Finance. Its participants walked in groups of 150 people in order not to break the restrictions related to the pandemic. After At 13, they reached Aleje Ujazdowskie, in front of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, whose building is separated by barriers and policemen standing behind them.
Opposite the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the protesters placed a block of ice in the shape of a cashier with the logo of NSZZ “Solidarność” and the words “KASA. We demand 12 percent”. The block symbolizes the freezing of wages in the budgetary sector.
“We are standing still. We want an increase in salaries,” they said. “Where are you ?!” – they addressed the words to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Other representatives of the public sector took the floor in protest.
The action is related to the planned wage freeze in 2022. As we read in the announcement of the event, the protest was organized by the organization of NSZZ “Solidarność” associating museum employees, customs service employees, tax office employees, court and prosecutor’s office employees, civil servants and employees of the prison service, police officers and civilian employees.
