Warsaw. Activists stuck to the S8 route, road workers notified the prosecutor's office

There is a reaction to the Friday blockade of the last generation on the S8 route. The Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak announced that the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways submitted a notification to the prosecutor's office in connection with illegal protest. Road workers intend to demand compensation, among others, for damage to the surface, caused by sticking several people to the road.

Activists of the last generation on Friday went to the road of the S8 route, at the height of Marymoncka Street. They started their protest after 4pm, i.e. at the time of the afternoon peak on the capital's roads. They blocked the crossing towards Bialystok for a few hours.

Road workers will demand compensation

“In connection with the illegal protest, which occurred on May 9 this year on the S8 expressway in Warsaw, between Broniewski's nodes and Wisłostrada, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways sent a notification about the possibility of committing a prohibited act to the Warsaw -Praga Południe District Prosecutor's Office” – said Minister Dariusz Klimczak through Platform X.

He added that GDDKiA would demand from persons responsible for compensation protest, the amount of which is to take into account the costs of securing the protest, repair and the cost of illegal traffic belt occupation.

The minister assured that he respects different views, but would not allow for unpunished life to other people, destroying infrastructure, threatening road safety and causing financial losses to entrepreneurs whose activity depends on efficient transport.

On May 9, activists stuck to the road with a strong glue to the road. The police appeared on the spot, the fire brigade formed protesters with the help of a pneumatic hammer, as a consequence of which a hole was created in the surface.

“The last generation” is a group of activists who want to “stop the effects of climate collapse”, operating, among others, in Poland, Germany, Austria and Italy. They attempt, among others Blocking streets and bridges, they are responsible, for example, for the pouring of the Warsaw Mermaid monument, or delay in the start of the first race during the race of the Służew horse racing track.

During the Friday protest, its participants donated people on platform X that they were “determined in the fight for access to small towns to transport”. They announced that “the blockades would last as long as Trzaskowski (president of Warsaw, presidential candidate Ko Rafał Trzaskowski – ed.) Not aumed the postulates of the last generation.” Activists demand “100 percent of funds from highways and expressways to public transport” and a monthly ticket for all of Poland for PLN 50.
