On Saturday, a fire broke out in one of the ambulances. The vehicle burned to the ground. According to the police, preliminary findings show that it ignited while driving. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
The ambulance fire occurred at noon at ul. Motorowa. – We received the application around 12.05. Upon arrival, the firefighters found the ambulance fire in a developed phase. The firefighting operation lasted about 40 minutes. Two fire brigades participated in it. There were no injured people – said Wojciech Kapczyński from the Warsaw fire brigade. The fireman added that the car was parked in the parking lot. “No other vehicles have been damaged,” he added.
The police were also called to the scene. – According to the officers, the vehicle ignited itself. The driver saw smoke coming from under the bonnet, stopped the ambulance and called the services – informed Gabriela Putyra from the Warsaw Police Headquarters.
As noted by the reporter of tvnwarszawa.pl Mateusz Szmelter, it was an ambulance of a private hospital or clinic – it was labeled with the name of a company other than Meditrans, which serves Warsaw and the surrounding area on a daily basis. “The ambulance also does not have the system number that Meditrans ambulances have,” he said.
