PiS MP Antoni Macierewicz allegedly broke a number of road regulations during a “rally” in the center of Warsaw. The person concerned himself commented on the matter. The politician claims that he was talking on the phone when the car was stationary, and not while driving it. He emphasized that he was at the disposal of the authorities conducting the activities.
On Thursday Fakt.pl. described Antoni Macierewicz's journey around Warsaw. According to them, the politician had violated many road regulations: he was talking on a mobile phone behind the wheel of a car, overtaking at a pedestrian crossing, crossing a double solid line and entering a bicycle lane. These offenses carry a penalty of over 27 penalty points. The police may take away your driving license after exceeding the 24-hour limit – the portal indicated.
“The car was standing then”
On Sunday on Republika TV, Macierewicz was asked whether he was talking on the phone while driving.
“In my opinion, the car was parked at that time,” replied the PiS MP.
He assured that “he is absolutely available.” “He will implement whatever the consequences result from, if such actions actually took place,” he added.
The politician emphasized that driving a car with a “phone in hand” is unacceptable. “Donald Tusk did this and in 2021, 2022 and 2023, Mr. Siemoniak (Tomasz Siemoniak – editor's note) remained silent on this matter,” said Antoni Macierewicz.
On Saturday, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak on the “X” platform, referring to Fakt's reports wrote that Antoni Macierewicz poses a threat not only to national security, but also to the safety of people on the road.
The police are investigating
The capital police reported on the “X” platform that officers from the Road Traffic Department of the Capital Police Headquarters initiated investigation activities after media reports about road offenses committed by one of the former ministers.
