The police are investigating the circumstances of a dangerous incident in Praga Południe. The driver of a Range Rover allegedly tried to deliberately run over a scooter driver, and when that failed, he and a group of other people beat him up. He was charged with attempted murder.
Police officers from the Grenadierów Police Station were alerted by a scooter driver. – It turned out that a man in a Range Rover, with several people travelling with him, wanted to run him over. The injured party managed to escape from under the car that hit him, but was caught by some of the people in the car and beaten. The perpetrators abandoned the car and fled – says Joanna Węgrzyniak, spokeswoman for the South Praga police.
The case was taken up by detectives. – Within a few dozen minutes of the report, the first four people involved in the incident were detained. The police detained two more men within the next few hours. Two women were among those detained – he added.
Several allegations
All six detainees were taken by police to the District Prosecutor's Office of Warsaw Praga-Południe. There they were charged with threats, two assaults and incitement to murder.
– The man who was driving the car will be held responsible for attempted murder and assault that occurred after the incident. With respect to three people detained at the request of the District Prosecutor's Office of Warsaw Praga Południe, the court applied a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest, while with respect to two people, the prosecutor applied a preventive measure in the form of police supervision – she reported.
The case is being investigated by the District Prosecutor's Office of Warsaw Praga-Południe. The police have not disclosed the suspect's motives.
