The police have detained a 38-year-old man suspected of theft. They have determined that at least 10 bicycles and an electric scooter could have disappeared from the streets of the capital thanks to him. Their value is over PLN 33,000. The man may also be responsible for reducing the assortment of a drugstore.
Police have identified a suspect in a series of several thefts in Warsaw. “The suspect's main target was bicycles. He stole at least ten of them this year. He also stole an electric scooter, which in total gave an estimated value of over PLN 33,000. Additionally, he stole items from a drugstore worth over PLN 3,500,” said junior asp. Jakub Pacyniak from the city center police station in a statement.
He added that the man had previously been recorded for bicycle theft, and that he was busted by city centre police.
It happened this time too. The suspect was arrested in Mokotów on Batuty Street. “As it turned out, the 38-year-old had stolen a bicycle a moment earlier, and in his backpack he had items that he used for criminal activities,” Pacyniak emphasized. The bicycle will be returned to its owner.
A dozen or so charges and an arrest
The 38-year-old is a citizen of Ukraine. He was charged with several thefts at the police station. The court accepted the motion of the District Prosecutor's Office of Warsaw Śródmieście-Północ and agreed to the man's three-month detention.
The proceedings in this case are supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office of Warsaw Śródmieście-Północ.
