On August 28, another Rothschild giraffe was born at the Warsaw Zoo. The male is a half-brother to Pietruszka, who was born a month earlier. He is almost two meters tall and took his first steps an hour after birth.
The baby's parents are Malawi and Karim. The entire pregnancy – which lasts about 450 days for giraffes – went off without a hitch, and the two-hour labor was without complications. Malawi immediately took on her new role and took care of her son. The young male, unlike his sister, does not need artificial feeding – Malawi has been taking care of him from the very beginning.
It measures two meters and is in good condition.
The baby took his first steps an hour after birth, and an hour later he began suckling his mother's milk. The boy is now almost two meters tall, and his health is considered very good.
Currently, the little one is under the watchful eye of its mother, and the herd is gradually getting to know the little one from behind the barriers. The first outing to the outdoor enclosure is planned soon, where visitors will be able to take a closer look at it. For now, the little male does not have a name yet. The Warsaw zoo intends to organize a vote on its Facebook page.
