Who posts ready-made parking spaces and why? This question was asked to a local group on social media by a resident of Saska Kępa. The capital's road engineers are behind the changes in traffic organization and explained the reason for them.

At the beginning of November last year, the streets of Saska Kępa were included in the unattended paid parking zone (SPPN). There are approximately 2,200 parking spaces on an area of just over six square kilometers. This involved the implementation of many changes in traffic organization. One of them appeared on Morocco Street and the residents did not like it.

The question about the poles appeared on the Saska Kępa Lokalnie group on Facebook. “Can someone explain to me who posts ready-made parking spaces and why? In such numbers? Any ideas where to report it? There is often no place to park in the area, and here are the posts…” Ms. Magdalena wrote in the post. Those commenting on the entry did not spare words of criticism towards this solution. “Idiocy”, “zone allowing vehicles not to park (original spelling – ed.)”, “nonsense”, “making life difficult for residents” – these are just some of the opinions.

The installation of the posts was commissioned by ZDM

The place indicated by the woman is the intersection of Morocco Street and Libijska Street. There, the entrance to the parking spaces was fenced with black road cones. At their height there is also an intersection with Algierska Street. There is another bay nearby. Here, the posts surround only part of it, further there are parking spaces within the SPPN.

The installation of the posts was commissioned by the Municipal Roads Authority as part of the implementation of changes related to the launch of SPPN in Saska Kępa. Maciej Dziubiński, spokesman for the capital's road engineers, explains that the purpose of this change was to eliminate parking at the intersection. And we remind you that in accordance with the Road Traffic Act, parking in such a place is unacceptable.

– The traffic organization was implemented in accordance with the approved permanent traffic organization project – adds Dziubiński. He also reports that the changes on Morocco Street were the result of corrections to the project introduced by the Road Traffic Management Office in the town hall.
