Police officers from Praga Północ detained a 25-year-old suspected of stealing vases from an open Opel. They also recovered over PLN 17,000 that the man had stolen from a BMW parked on the same street. The suspect confessed to the theft and was charged in both cases.
Criminal investigators investigated the theft of vases worth over PLN 2,000 from an Opel parked at Stalowa Street in Praga Północ. They reached a 25-year-old man who had a history of thefts. His appearance also matched the description of the selected perpetrator.
Two thefts in three days
– They knew that the man had no permanent place of residence. They came up with a plan to stop him. They appeared in one of the courtyards at Inżynierska Street, knowing that the 25-year-old might be there. The man had no chance to escape. The police detained him and took him to the police station at Jagiellońska Street. During the search, they found over PLN 17,000 in his possession. The cash was wrapped in aluminum foil, said the spokeswoman for the North Praga police, Superintendent Paulina Onyszko.
The police found out that the man stole cash from an open BMW parked at Stalowa Street three days after he robbed an Opel on the same street. His loot was PLN 20,000.
– The investigators analyzed the findings in great detail. Based on the collected materials, they charged the 25-year-old with stealing vases and cash. During interrogation, the man admitted to committing both crimes, the policewoman said, reminding that the theft of someone else's property is punishable by up to five years in prison.
