Warsaw Public Transport will operate differently during the holiday season. Buses, metro and trams will run according to changed timetables on Christmas, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Epiphany.
Christmas and New Year is a time of less traffic, many days are free from work. Pupils and students have a break from classes. Fewer passengers use public transport, which is why, as every year, the capital’s Public Transport Authority has prepared changes that will adapt the WTP route to demand.
The first changes in timetables will appear the day before Christmas Eve, on Saturday December 23. The route’s bus services will be suspended 196 and 200special bus lines will hit the streets C40, which will take passengers from the Młociny metro to the western gate of the Northern Cemetery. Additionally, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., buses from the line will also arrive at the same place 250. Many Warsaw residents visit the graves of their loved ones on Christmas Eve, which is why the cemetery buses will also run on December 24.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day on public transport
On Christmas Eve, buses will run according to the Christmas timetable, and trams will run according to special timetables. The operation of selected bus and tram lines will be suspended. From the afternoon, some of the rolling stock will start arriving at the depot, and selected lines will be suspended. Metro on this day until At 3:00 p.m. it will run according to the Sunday schedule, then every approx. 7 minutes. There will be night trips on the night of December 24-25.
On Christmas Day (December 25 and 26), the holiday timetable will apply – for daytime buses; and special – for trams (runs approximately every 10 or 20 minutes, depending on the line), along with the suspension of selected lines. Metro at From 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. it will run every 6-7 minutes, at other times approximately every 10 minutes. On the night of December 25-26, night metro services will be launched.
In the following days, i.e. from December 27 to 29, buses will generally run according to weekday schedules, with suspension or adjustments to the schedules and routes of selected lines. There will be no school trips or school pickups. Trams will arrive at stops every 5 or 10 minutes during peak hours, and every 7.5 minutes or 15 minutes outside peak hours. During rush hours, the metro will run every 3 minutes and 30 seconds, and on the night of December 29-30 there will be night services.
The last days of December, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Eve and Epiphany
On the last two days of 2023 (December 30-31), the standard timetable will apply in Warsaw Public Transport (except for several bus lines). The metro will run on New Year’s Eve.
On Monday, January 1, a public holiday timetable will be in force for buses, with suspension or correction of the timetables and routes of selected lines, and a special timetable for trams (runs approximately every 10 or 20 minutes, depending on the line), along with the suspension of selected lines. lines. Metro at From 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. it will run every 6-7 minutes, and at other times approximately every 10 minutes.
Trams will run according to the weekend timetable, and the metro will run according to the Sunday timetable (there will also be night services on the night of January 6-7). Buses will run “holiday” throughout the weekend, with the suspension of several selected lines.
