On Wednesday evening, there was a festive atmosphere on Warsaw's Royal Route. Illuminations lit up Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście. In turn, at Castle Square, the mayor of the capital, Rafał Trzaskowski, turned on the lights on the city Christmas tree.
– We start the celebration in Warsaw by lighting the Christmas tree and illuminating the entire Royal Route. I would like to wish everyone the best Christmas wishes. I wish you to have as much time as possible for your family and friends, as well as for a moment of reflection. And that these holidays will be as cheerful and friendly as possible for everyone, but also become an opportunity to relax – said Rafał Trzaskowski during the ceremonial switching on of the lights on the city Christmas tree.

According to the capital city hall, a little earlier, at At 3.30 p.m., just after dark, the Christmas illuminations on the Royal Route turned on. The luminous objects are intended to transport those walking along Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście to the capital of the 1950s and 1960s. There is a telephone with a dial, a street saturator, a store weight scale and a Belweder TV. The iconic Warszawa and Syrena cars, as well as the Ryś moped, returned to the streets.

On the weekend of December 7-8, from From 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., trams from the special St. Nicholas line M will run around the city. The line will be served by classic 'crank' wagons from the mid-20th century and the so-called 'sausages', i.e. characteristically rounded 13N type wagons. Departure times can be checked in the timetables tab, says the town hall.
City ice rinks
Officials remind us that there are free, uncovered ice skating rinks in the city. “Ice skating enthusiasts can now skate in Bródnowski Park and the city's sports centers – Stegny and Moczydło. From Wednesday, December 4, the ice rinks under the Palace of Culture and Science and in the Old Town Square are already open,” says the town hall.
“In total, Warsaw residents will have as many as 17 ice rinks throughout the city at their disposal during the winter. There are skate rentals at the city's skating rinks. Each facility is also properly lit, so you can also skate in the evenings. The ice rinks are equipped with specialized cooling systems, maintaining the temperature of the ice, and the surface is smoothed using special machines that eliminate unevenness and apply a fresh layer of water,” the release concluded.
