The design of Żerański Park has been completed. Officials showed on visualizations how this place will look like in the future. The idea of creating an observation tower by the canal bank dropped out of the project. They will start looking for a contractor soon. The Zieleni Board is preparing to announce a tender.
Żerański Park will be created on an area of nearly 14 hectares by the western bank of the Żerański Canal. It will occupy the area between Modlińska and Płochocińska. In the spring of 2021, design work began. The contractor used the concept of the TopoSpace studio, selected two years earlier in an architectural competition. Before the weekend, the Zieleni Board informed that the design documentation was ready. Officials also showed new visualizations.
It also turns out that a permit to start work in the field is also ready. – Currently, we are preparing tender documents for the implementation of construction works – informs Karolina Kwiecień-Łukaszewska, spokeswoman for the Zieleni Board. The tender should be announced in the first quarter of this year. The park is expected to be ready in 2025.
There will be no observation tower
We asked the Zieleni Board if there were any changes in the development of the park area at the design stage in relation to the competition concept of the TopoSpace studio.
– Yes, changes have been made that turned out to be necessary and justified during the evaluation and approval of the project – the spokeswoman pointed out. – The basic change is the need to resign from the observation tower due to the restrictions introduced by the State Water Holding Polish Waters – she replied when asked about examples.
What will Żerański Park look like?
The vision of the park proposed in the competition concept combines infrastructure for sports enthusiasts with attractions for people who value rest in the bosom of nature.
In addition to bicycle paths and walking routes, mooring stops for paddlers and canoeists as well as a new beach with fishing stands are to be built in the park. Floating wooden piers will appear on the water. The meeting place will be a picnic glade and four pavilions: local activity, gastronomic, water marina and rowing training.
A skate park, a rope path and a street workout zone are also planned on the investment site. The latest visualizations presented by the Green Management show that a playground will also appear in the park. In addition, dogs will be allowed to move freely around the park. There should be a special zone for them with drinking bowls and an obstacle course.
