Warsaw. Corpus Christi processions and pilgrimage. Difficulties during the long weekend

On Thursday, May 30, processions will be held in various parts of the capital in connection with Corpus Christi. On Sunday, June 2, a pilgrimage will set off from Piłsudski Square to the Temple of Divine Providence. The Public Transport Authority informs about the difficulties.

Processions will pass through the streets of many Warsaw parishes. Car traffic will be suspended on their routes, and buses will be diverted through the nearest streets.

Central Corpus Christi procession. Route

The central Corpus Christi procession will set off from the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist after 10 o'clock. Its participants will walk through the streets: Świętojańska, through Zamkowy Square, Krakowskie Przedmieście and Królewska to Piłsudskiego Square. The celebrations will end around 2 p.m. During this time, buses from the following lines may be diverted: 111, 116, 128, 175, 178, 180 and 503.

In Śródmieście, changes in public transport may also be caused by the procession in the parish of the Holy Savior. Between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., the faithful will walk from Zbawiciela Square, Aleja Wyzwolenia, Służewska, Koszykowa and Aleje Ujazdowskie to the parish of St. Aleksandra on Trzech Krzyży Square. During the procession, trams of the following lines may be diverted to detour routes: 4, 10, 11, 15 and 35 and buses of the lines: 100, 107, 108, 116, 118, 159, 166, 180, 222, and 503.

In Praga-Północ, the procession will start from the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel and Saint Florian at 11 a.m. Until 1 p.m. the faithful will walk through the following streets: Sierakowski, Okrzei, Jagiellońska, Marcinkowskiego, Targowa, Skaryszewska, Lubelska, Grochowska to the Co-Cathedral of St. Our Lady of Victories. If traffic on the procession route is suspended, trams of the following lines will run on detour routes: 3, 6, 7, 22 and 26 and buses of the lines: 102, 120, 123, 125, 135, 138, 146, 147, 162, 166, 169, 202 and 509.

Processions in Bemowo, Wola, Mokotów and a pilgrimage in Wilanów

Processions will also take place in other districts. In Bemowo, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the procession will pass through the following streets: Lencewicza, Wrocławska, Powstańców Śląskich, Radiowa and Lencewicza. In Wola, between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., the faithful will cross the following streets: Bema, Kasprzaka (one lane towards Aleja Prymasa Tysiąclecia), Płocka, Ludwiki, Klonowicza, Szymczaka and Bema. In turn, in Mokotów you will be able to participate in the procession, among others. from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. – it will go along Niepodległości Avenue (road towards Woronicza), to Woronicza and Modzelewskiego.

On Sunday, June 2, a pilgrimage on the occasion of the 17th Thanksgiving will go from Piłsudski Square to Wilanów. Participants will set off at 8 o'clock and will move along the streets: Królewska, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Nowy Świat, through Rondo de Gaulle and Trzech Krzyży Square, Aleje Ujazdowskie, Belwederska, Sobieskiego, Aleja Rzeczypospolitej and Hlonda. The pilgrimage will reach the Temple of Divine Providence around 11:30. The event will be secured by the police. Officers may decide to temporarily suspend traffic. During the procession, buses of the following lines: 100, 107, 111, 116, 118, 128, 148, 159, 164, 166, 172, 175, 178, 180, 217, 222, 503, 518 519 and 522 may be diverted to detours.

Due to the organization of the ceremony in front of the Temple of Divine Providence, Hlonda Street from Aleja Rzeczypospolitej to Ledóchowska Street will be closed to traffic and parking from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The bicycle path will also be closed. Additional parking spaces for pilgrims will be designated on Branickiego Street. Between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., drivers will be able to stop on the outer lanes between Ledóchowska Street and Aleja Rzeczypospolitej.

To facilitate access to Wilanów, buses from the line will run more frequently, according to a special schedule 217.
