The prosecutor's office has completed the investigation into the death of attorney Robert Nowaczyk. The lawyer, described by the media as a “reprivatization shark”, died last summer after a long stay in hospital.

– The proceedings were discontinued. The causes of death were found to be natural, without the involvement of third parties, Piotr Skiba, press spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, told us.

He also emphasized that the decision was not final.

Let us remind you, The prosecutor's office conducted an investigation into the death of a well-known Warsaw lawyer, Robert Nowaczykwho participated in 46 real estate return processes.

As calculated by “Gazeta Wyborcza”, Nowaczyk obtained approximately PLN 96 million in compensation for his clients, as well as refunds in kind: over 40 tenement houses and plots, often in great locations. He himself invested in claims, including: rights to a tenement house and two plots of land at Castle Square.

During one of during the verification committee meetings, he said that the total amount of his claims amounted to one billion zlotys.

His clients included: Marzena K., Grzegorz M. and Janusz P., who wanted to take over the plot at Plac Defilad (pre-war address Chmielna 70). The outbreak of the so-called reprivatization scandal.

The media sometimes called him a “reprivatization shark”, but he himself said that he was “just a humble lawyer and investor”.

Accused by the Wrocław prosecutor's office

Nowaczyk was one of nine people charged by the Wrocław prosecutor's office in October 2017 in connection with the reprivatization of Warsaw real estate. Some of the crimes covered by the indictment concerned corruption, and the indictment showed that Nowaczyk was involved in this procedure, but he was not charged. After being detained by the Central Anticorruption Bureau, he cooperated with the prosecutor's office and provided very extensive explanations, the minutes of which from several interrogations total over 200 pages.

The prosecutor's office accused Nowaczyk of primarily unfavorable disposition of the property of the heirs of the former owner of the property at 27 Morszyńska Street and the property in Kościelisko. From February 2017 to August 2018, Nowaczyk was arrested.
