On Friday evening, a drone show commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. The sky over the capital was lit up by 615 unmanned aerial vehicles, which formed 12 symbolic figures in a synchronous swarm.

As the capital city hall announced earlier, this is the largest show of this type and one of the largest in Europe. The drones rose from 60 to 120 meters high, creating four layers of light, and the show began.

They covered great distances, created formations as wide as 200 meters. Viewers could admire three-dimensional formations, lighting effects, and all this in colors inspired by the national colors of Poland and Warsaw.

The narrative of this spectacular show was enriched with true statements of insurgents, including Wanda Traczyk-Stawska, Tomasz Łaszkiewicz, Eugenia Adamiak and Edmund Baranowski. The voices were made available by the Warsaw Uprising Museum from the Oral History Archive.

The musical setting for this aerial spectacle was the symphonic piece “Drones Over the City” by Karim Martusewicz, the son of an insurgent.
