In a tragic accident on Trasa Ćazienkowska, a 37-year-old man died while driving with his wife and two children. A speeding Volkswagen carrying five people crashed into their car. The woman in the car was taken to hospital in serious condition. Three men were unharmed, they were drunk. The search for the fourth is ongoing.
The accident occurred on the night from Saturday to Sunday on Trasa Ćazienkowska on the road towards Saska KÄpa.. A recording from a car camera of a witness to the tragedy appeared on the City Reporter profile. It shows the exact moment of collision. A Ford passenger car is moving in the right lane. Suddenly, at the height of Torwar, a speeding white Volkswagen appears in the frame, which hits the back of the Ford with enormous force. It is pushed against the barriers.
As informed on Sunday by cadet BartĆomiej ĆniadaĆa from the Warsaw Police Headquarters, a 37-year-old man, a passenger in a Ford, died at the scene in the accident. The injured in the accident were: a 37-year-old woman – the deceased's wife and their two children aged four and eight (they were travelling in the Ford) and the woman in the Volkswagen.
At the scene, police also found three men from the Volkswagen. “They were drunk. The first of them, a 22-year-old, had over two per mille of alcohol in his system, and the 27- and 28-year-olds had over one per mille each. They were detained, and their vehicle was secured in the police parking lot for further tests,” the police officer said.
The fourth man escaped
On Monday morning, prosecutor Piotr Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, informed us that the files concerning this case are to be submitted to the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw-ĆrĂłdmieĆcie today. It turned out that another man was traveling in the Volkswagen. The search for him is ongoing. According to investigators, it is most likely he was the driver of the car that hit the Ford.
Immediately after the accident, the men in the Volkswagen scattered around the accident scene. The injured were initially helped by other drivers.
Two women seriously injured
Prosecutor Skiba provided us with information on the health of the injured. – The woman travelling in the Ford underwent surgery. She regained consciousness. The younger child is still in hospital, the older one has already left the hospital – informed prosecutor Skiba. – The condition of the woman in the Volkswagen is serious. She suffered very serious injuries to her face and head – added Skiba.
Both cars were secured for tests. – An expert was called in to verify the speed at which the Volkswagen was traveling. Blood was taken from the people traveling in the car. Fingerprints were taken from the car. The clothes and shoes of the detained men were also secured, which are necessary to determine who was sitting where – added the spokesman for the prosecutor's office.
