– We decided that we will create a cultural center at engineering 6 – betrayed on Monday the Vice President of Warsaw Aldona Machnowska -Góra. – It is a historic, extremely important building of the former tram depot in Praga Północ. Today it still has housing functions, there are several municipal apartments. But the district conducts the process of moving people (living there – ed.). Tram and bus depot

In the nineteenth century, a wooden tram fire station was created here. The first horse tram left exactly on December 11, 1866, which commemorates the plaque on the wall of the building. The tram ran between the main stations of the then Warsaw: St. Petersburg (today Vilnius) and Viennese (today in the central region) through the Kierbezia Bridge (in its place is the Silesian-Dąbrowski Bridge in its place). Fragments of rails have survived to this day.

In the early 1920s, a modern, brick building was built, in which a bus depot was arranged. It housed about 30 buses. In the front part of the buildings there were offices and management, there were workshops in the back room. A bas -relief of the capital's coat of arms was placed above one of the entrance gates – hence the name Dom Pod Syrena.

The depot operated after the war, in the 1960s the building was rebuilt into housing functions.
