The prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation into the gas explosion in Warsaw’s Annopol district, which injured three people.
The explosion occurred on Thursday at 4 Annopol Street during the construction of a tram depot. According to firefighters, the explosion occurred during welding work in one of the sanitary sewers. Its force was so strong that it tore off the manhole covers. Three people were injured and treated by rescuers. The injured men were taken to hospital, one of them was in a serious condition.
Firefighters returned to Annopol on Friday. The report mentioned irritating odors. Measurements showed increased gas concentration in the well. Its connection was blocked by waterworks.
The explosion caught the attention of the prosecutor’s office
The prosecutor’s office investigated the explosion. – The investigation will be conducted to lead to an event that threatened the life or health of many people or large-scale property – Katarzyna Skrzeczkowska, spokeswoman for the Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor’s Office, told PAP.
She added that in order to determine the cause of the explosion, investigators are securing evidence and will be interviewing people who took part in the incident. These are workers who were carrying out renovation work here.
