A new type of crime is to appear in Polish law: organization and participation in illegal car races. Work has been underway for several months on changes in regulations. The head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak reported that they were at the final stage. – Until these changes take place, the police – as last Saturday – firmly fighting such crimes that threaten health and life, and certainly threaten the peace of the inhabitants – he emphasized.
Drona helicopter and several hundred policemen – this was the full mobilization before illegal car rallies in Warsaw. Our reporters looked closely at those who work out racing organizers. The officers explained to us why the fight against illegal races brings gigantic costs and strains the possibilities of the police. And why they feel more and more frustration in this matter.
Are working on regulations on illegal races
On Tuesday, the Minister of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak was asked during the press conference at what stage they are at Work on changing the provisions on road safety, which was announced in mid -November last year.
– We presented the adjustment package a few weeks ago. Work ends on it. They relate to the Penal Code, so these are issues very complex – said Siemoniak.
As he reminded, in total there were several dozen different changes in the package. These include: tightening penalties for drivers who break court bans on vehicles, introducing a new type of crime – organization and participation in illegal car races – and limiting the possibilities of reducing penalty points.
– There are two leading resorts here: infrastructure and justice. We support very hot to regulate these issues in laws and prohibit certain things, or cover them with sanctions. Until these changes occur, the police – as last Saturday – firmly fight with such crimes that threaten health and life, and certainly also threaten the peace of the inhabitants – emphasized Siemoniak.
– The rules are ready, they are today in inter -ministerial consultations and I hope that by mid -this year they will be adopted by the Sejm and signed by the president – said the Minister of Infrastructure in an interview with TVN24.
Acoustic speed cameras in the fight against illegal races
Journalists asked on Tuesday Minister Siemoniak about the idea of MP Franciszek Sterczewski, who in an interpellation to the Minister of Infrastructure proposed to introduce acoustic speed cameras to Polish paths. These are devices that automatically detect vehicles that generate too much noise. This is often due to the modification of the engine or the exhaust system, which people who like fast driving and participating in illegal races decide.
– We know the views of MP Sterczewski. This is a topic that the joint committee of the government and local government will work – announced Siemoniak. – As for the fight with noise in the city, we are all allies. Too fast car driving or car races increase the level of noise – he added.
The police make life difficult for participants of illegal races
She also talked about illegal races in the capital with policemen Aleksander Kąkol from the editorial office of the magazine “Poland and the world”. – We try to ensure that the participants of these illegal rallies give up such activities after all – said her asp. Kamil Sobótka from the Warsaw Police Headquarters.
That is why the police are consistently hindering their lives. – Many fines for the amount of over PLN 120,000, lots of registration documents detained for irregularities, even for excessive noise of vehicles, or too darkened windows – calculated the effects of police activities carried out from Saturday to Sunday.
But the organizers are once again trying to organize such a party in the capital and are not afraid of consistency.

“It must be a felive sense of hopelessness when a policeman who deals with it, who knows that the evidence is collected must accept that everyone in the area is harassed by these sounds, this noise, the fact that someone wants to eat on the road,” he said Bartosz Żurawicz, journalist of TVN24.pl and author of the last material about illegal races in Warsaw.
Once, despite the work of the police, the organizers of illegal races avoided punishment. – All this work was wasted as a result of a strange decision of the prosecutor's office – reminded Robert Zieliński, a journalist of tvn24.pl.
