The court sentenced a pizza supplier to community service, who beat the controller of the Municipal Roads Authority a few months ago, trying to issue him a ticket. The attacker was also charged with procedural costs.
The incident took place at the end of April at Inflancka Street. Two paid parking zone controllers issued a ticket after noticing that one of the cars did not have a valid ticket. Then his driver showed up. After a short conversation, he walked over to one of the controllers and kicked him on the shoulder. Then he took a wooden square timber from the car and hit a ZDM employee in the head with it. The aggressive driver was the pizza delivery man. Sam reported to the police.
Sentence for beating a controller
“The court had no problems with passing the sentence, because the guilt did not raise any doubts. The hooligan was sentenced to 10 months of restriction of liberty in the form of 30 hours of unpaid community service each month. Additionally, he was charged with the costs of the trial” – the Municipal Roads Authority announced in a statement.
The road workers emphasized that the beaten controller suffered minor injuries, which is why the perpetrator received a light penalty of restriction of liberty. “If the assault resulted in a health detriment that hinders normal functioning for more than 7 days, he would be exposed to imprisonment for a period of 3 months to 5 years” – stated in the release.
Verbal and physical aggression
ZDM points out that the controllers “are often faced with aggression, usually verbal”. But there are also physical attacks. In January 2017, an aggressive driver not only beat the controller, but also took the terminal to control the charges and the telephone from him. In turn, in August 2018, the driver hit the controller.
“We report each such situation to the police, we pay court fees on behalf of our employee and, if necessary, help to write a statement of claim. Such primitive behavior must be stigmatized and the perpetrator must be punished” – stressed road workers.
ZDM has been paying attention to attacks on controllers for several years. A slap in the face, a deliberate hit with a car, a heavy battery – these are the worst incidents from a long list of what parking fees inspectors experience at work. That is why road workers prepared a video in which they remind drivers about the principles of culture and that the inspectors only do their job.
