During the control, the driver of the passenger transport showed the border guards a counterfeit Georgian driving license. He admitted that he bought them for $50 to earn money as a driver in Poland. He voluntarily surrendered himself to punishment.

Officers from the Border Guard Post in Warsaw, together with the police officers from the capital, once again carried out an inspection of drivers providing passenger transport services. They checked citizens of Albania, India, Belarus, Turkey and Turkmenistan as well as three Georgians.

“A 34-year-old Georgian man was detained, who showed a counterfeit Georgian driving license for the control. The man came to Poland two years ago and has been staying in our country legally since then. He bought a fake driving license in Georgia for $50, wanting to quickly and it is easy to obtain a document that allows him to earn money in Poland as a driver.

Preparatory proceedings were initiated against the Georgian, accusing him of using a forged document.

Article 270 § 1. Whoever, in order to be used as authentic, counterfeits or alters a document or uses such a document as authentic, shall be subject to a fine, the penalty of restriction of liberty or imprisonment from 3 months to 5 years.

The man was interrogated as a suspect with the participation of a Georgian interpreter. He pleaded guilty to the charges against him, giving explanations. “The Georgian voluntarily submitted to a fine, he also lost the seized document and will bear the costs of the proceedings. After completing the activities, he was released” – adds the Border Guard.
