On the night from Saturday to Sunday, city guards patrolling Wola noticed a man charging a construction machine on the sidewalk. “He stole the machine from the construction site. He drove it through the fence and then mowed down posts in the street,” the Warsaw City Guard describes the incident. The officers pulled the drunk 43-year-old from behind the wheel.
On Saturday, a few minutes before midnight, city guards driving along Młynarska Street noticed a construction machine sliding along… the sidewalk in front of the intersection with Wolska Street.
“In front of the officers, the vehicle rammed a traffic post and kept driving. The guards gave chase and caught the driver a few dozen meters away, when he almost hit a memorial stone. The 43-year-old resident driving the dump truck explained that he had been talked into stealing the machine by a friend who was allegedly in arrears with his salary by the construction manager. The guards put handcuffs on the man and waited for the police to arrive,” the Warsaw City Guard reported in a statement.
The officers determined that the theft of the vehicle was witnessed by a security guard from one of the neighboring buildings. He testified that the vehicle “left the construction site along with the fence.” The officers tested the 43-year-old for sobriety. According to the city guard, he had 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his blood.
