On Tuesday evening, there was a civic arrest of a driver who was driving against the flow along Prymasa Tysiąclecia Avenue. The driver was arrested because, according to police, there is a reasonable suspicion that he may have been driving under the influence of drugs.
As the reporter of tvnwarszawa.pl, Mateusz Szmelter, found out, the driver of a passenger car was driving the wrong way along Prymasa Tysiąclecia Avenue on the Obozowa-Górczewska section. The lorry driver saw this and stood across the road to prevent him from continuing. The police were called to the spot. Several police cars have arrived – said Szmelter.
In the recording that our reporter received from a witness to the incident, you can see how the policemen try to get the driver out of the car, but he resists. Eventually, the police had to break the window to get to the man.
Gabriela Putyra from the Warsaw Police Headquarters confirmed that at 20.40 police officers received a report about a Peugeot driver who was moving along Prymasa Tysiąclecia Avenue against the current towards the West Railway Station.
– Citizens prevented the driver from continuing to drive. Police officers who attended the scene determined that the driver was intoxicated. However, there is a reasonable suspicion that he may have driven under the influence of intoxicants. The man was arrested. Activities in this case are being carried out by the Warsaw IV District Police Headquarters, Putyra told us on Wednesday morning.
