Police officers from Mokotów detained a 33-year-old suspected of stealing perfume worth over PLN 3.6 thousand. The man was taken into custody. It turned out that he was staying in Poland illegally. The Georgian has already been charged and is facing deportation.

Police officers were called to one of the drugstores located at Konstruktorska Street in Warsaw’s Mokotów district. According to the report, a store security employee noticed a 33-year-old man who had stolen perfume for a total amount of over PLN 3.6 thousand.

– A citizen of Georgia took the bottles from the shelf and put them in a previously prepared plastic bag. Thanks to the perceptiveness and quick reaction of the store employee, he was caught red-handed when he crossed the checkout line without paying for the products, said senior assistant Marta Haberska from the Mokotów police in a message.

He stayed in Poland illegally

The man was then taken into police custody. Now he will answer for his actions in court. – For the crime of theft of property, he may now be punished with imprisonment from months to five years – reminded the policewoman.

The proceedings are supervised by the Mokotów prosecutor’s office.

– After checking the police system, it turned out that the man was staying in Poland illegally, so the procedure related to his deportation was initiated – she concluded.
