Polish police, in cooperation with the German police, located and apprehended the perpetrator of the accident on Trasa Łazienkowska. The man is now facing the procedure of extradition to Poland under the European Arrest Warrant – according to unofficial information from tvn24.pl. This was confirmed in the evening by the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.
The District Court in Warsaw issued a decision to issue a European Arrest Warrant for 26-year-old Łukasz Ż. The prosecutor's office requested it. With this announcement, it became clear that Ż. had fled the country.
As we unofficially found out on Thursday, Łukasz Ż. is already in the hands of the police. The operation was carried out on Wednesday by Polish police officers in cooperation with German officers. The man is awaiting the procedure of extradition to Poland under the European Arrest Warrant. In the evening, the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw officially confirmed our findingsreporting on social media that the suspect in the fatal accident had been “arrested in Germany.”
In addition, we found out that Two more people were arrested in the caseand one of them has already been arrested. This information was also confirmed by the evening announcement of the prosecutor's office: “Further arrests in Poland of men involved in aiding the perpetrator of the accident”. – The actions are extremely intensive – Piotr Antoni Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, replied briefly when asked about the arrests.

He drove into a family at high speed
The accident occurred on the night from Saturday to Sunday on Trasa Łazienkowska near Torwar. The Volkswagen, which – according to the prosecutor's findings – was driven by Łukasz Ż., hit a Ford that was driving correctly in the middle lane at great speed. As a result of the accident, a 37-year-old man, who was driving the car with his wife and two children, died. The rest of the family was taken to hospital, the woman is in serious condition.
The woman driving the second car was also taken to hospital with very serious head and face injuries. Her three friends were unharmed, they were drunk. The last person in the Volkswagen was Łukasz Ż., who fled the scene of the accident. The man had been convicted multiple times for driving under the influence of alcohol, fraud and drugs.
As reported by the prosecutor's office, the three men detained after the tragedy – Mikołaj N., Damian J. and Maciej O. – were charged with obstructing the proceedings, failing to provide assistance to the injured parties, as well as aiding and abetting. According to investigators, the suspects allegedly even chased away people who wanted to help their seriously injured friend.
