Police officers from Wilanów detained the man who was driving the car while under the influence of alcohol. It turned out that the man was wanted in a theft case. He tried to hide his identity by deliberately damaging the fingertips.
The incident happened a few days ago. Police officers from Wilanów, while patrolling the area of Korczyńska Street, noticed a Volkswagen golf. – The uncertain driving style indicated that the driver might be under the influence of alcohol – says the subcom. During the control from the man behind the wheel there was a distinct smell of alcohol. “He said he had six beers and got into a car that belongs to the construction company where he works as a manual worker. The alcohol test showed that it has over 1.5 per mille in the body – says Koniuszy.

He did not have any documents with him. He told the policemen that he did not have and never had a driving license. He always rode without a license. The man recited his personal details, arguing that they were authentic.
The 34-year-old was arrested and taken to the police station to confirm his identity. – His fingertips were extremely scarred. He claimed it was from construction work. It quickly turned out that it had a personal goal. The Morpho Touch portable device used by the uniformed for quick fingerprint identification displayed the information that the officers detained a man with the same surname, but five years younger, born in a different month and bearing a name different from the one he used – explains Koniuszy.

He points out that, in addition, the man was wanted by policemen from Radom (Mazowieckie) in the case of the theft of 700 zlotys from a bus of one of the courier companies. – When the truth came out, the detainee admitted that that was why he was hiding his identity. He deliberately damaged the epidermis on his fingertips and cut them with a sharp tool to confuse the device – he adds.
After sobering up, the 34-year-old was charged with a traffic offense involving drunk driving and two offenses, i.e. deliberately misleading officers as to his identity and driving without authorization. After interrogation, he was handed over to policemen from Radom, who charged him with theft.
For the alleged offense, he may face up to two years in prison and a fine of up to PLN 5,000.
