A man traveling from Warsaw to Rzeszów was not allowed to board the plane. The reason for the services' decision was a passenger's joke about having five kilograms of TNT in his luggage. He was also fined PLN 500 for having a sense of humor that did not fit the situation.
The Nadwiślański Branch of the Border Guard reported the incident at Chopin Airport. The incident occurred on Friday, December 13, during the check-in of passengers for a flight from Warsaw to the capital of Podkarpacie.
A man traveling on the Oslo – Warsaw – Rzeszów route reported to one of the desks in the departure hall. – When asked by the ground service employee about having dangerous materials in his luggage, he replied that he had nothing more than five kilograms of TNT – informs Dagmara Bielec, press secretary of the Commander of the Nadwiślański Border Guard Unit.
The airport employee immediately notified officers from the Special Intervention Group from the Warsaw-Okęcie Border Guard Station, who investigated the circumstances of the incident and checked the man's luggage. – The man was isolated from other travelers, and then, along with his hand luggage and checked luggage, he was checked for possession of dangerous items – reports the spokeswoman. He adds that the search result was negative.

Even though no dangerous materials were found with the 55-year-old resident of Podkarpacie, he will not escape responsibility. Border guard officers took him to the official premises, where proceedings were initiated in the case of an offense under Article 210(1). 1 point 5a of the Aviation Law. The above-mentioned provision states that persons who do not comply with the orders and prohibitions applicable at the airport are subject to a fine.
– The man was issued a fine of PLN 500. In addition, the carrier decided to withdraw the passenger from the flight to Rzeszów – notes Bielec.
