Officers of the Central Investigation Bureau of the Police and the National Tax Administration discovered an illegal cigarette factory in the basement of a house in Warsaw. According to the CBŚP spokeswoman, the production line and 120,000 cigarettes were taken over, which were packed, among others, in pizza boxes. The charges in the case were heard by four men. Police officers carried out similar actions in Silesia.

The activities were spread over two areas of the country. In Warsaw, the Central Police Investigation Bureau operated jointly with the Masovian National Revenue Administration. – The officers reached the place where the cigarette factory was located. It was in the basement of the house, in several soundproofed rooms, where the production line was operating – reported the Inspector General. Iwona Jurkiewicz, spokeswoman for CBŚP.

She reported that 121,000 finished cigarettes were packed in pizza boxes, semi-finished products for the manufacture of cigarettes were also secured, and marijuana and ecstasy tablets were found in the apartment of one of the suspects. During the action, a delivery truck with bags of tobacco arrived at the property.

– Four men aged 34 to 44 were arrested in the case, who heard accusations in the Warsaw-Praga Południe District Prosecutor’s Office regarding, inter alia, the manufacture and storage of tobacco products. Police supervision was applied to three men, one man was temporarily arrested – Justyna Pasieczyńska, spokeswoman for the Tax Administration Chamber in Warsaw, reported.

Seven people suspected of excise fraud in Silesia

The CBŚP carried out further activities in Silesia under the supervision of the Branch Department of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office in Katowice. – Seven people suspected of excise crime were detained. According to the findings of the officers, the gang operated in 2015–2017, and members of the group marketed tobacco and alcohol products without Polish excise stamps in the Śląskie and Świętokrzyskie voivodships – reported the subinsp. Jurkiewicz.

According to preliminary estimates, as a result of the activities of the group, the State Treasury could incur losses of at least five million zlotys.
