Preparations are underway in Warsaw for a demonstration on the second anniversary of Russia’s escalation of aggression against Ukraine. Symbolic crosses with the names of war victims appeared on Saturday in front of the building of the Embassy of the Russian Federation.

Name and surname, age and signature “killed by Russians” – this is what passers-by may encounter in front of the Russian embassy on Belwederska Street. It has been 10 years since Russia attacked Ukraine and two years since the full-scale war.

Several demonstrations and marches are planned in Warsaw on Saturday, most of which will take place in Śródmieście. To ensure safety, the police may decide to close streets. The first demonstration will take place on Belwederska Street.

Subsequent gatherings will be combined with a march. The main event will start at 12 noon in front of the Witos monument at Trzech Krzyży Square, and from there at 1 p.m. the participants will walk along the Royal Route to Castle Square.

Many buildings in the capital – offices and cultural institutions – will be illuminated on Saturday to commemorate the tragic events in Ukraine, and at 9 p.m. the film “Murals” will be shown on the wall of the new building of the Museum of Modern Art.
