The Masovian National Tax Administration detained six people suspected of involvement in VAT offenses. Men aged 29 to 43 were engaged in a fictitious trade in rapeseed oil. The losses of the State Treasury were estimated at PLN 175 million.
The investigation into the activities of an organized criminal group dealing with tax fraud is carried out by the Masovian Customs and Tax Office in Warsaw under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office. As reported by the St. Reg. Justyna Pasieczyńska from the Tax Administration Chamber in Warsaw, the fraud mechanism was based on the so-called tax carousel. – The entities issued fictitious VAT invoices, documented the alleged trade in rapeseed oil. The companies showed them in their tax declarations and thus lower the value of the tax due, informed Pasieczyńska.
Six people with the charges
The losses of the State Treasury are estimated at PLN 175 million.
Officers of the Masovian Customs and Tax Service searched the suspects’ places of residence and the headquarters of companies in the Śląskie, Wielkopolskie, Świętokrzyskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodships. Six men aged 29 to 43 were detained. They were charged with charges at the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw.
