The new traffic lights will become at seven intersections. The City Road Administration has chosen companies that will deal with projects. According to road workers, their implementation will improve safety at 24 pedestrian crossings in five districts.

“Traffic lights are just one of many ways to improve safety. We use it in places where other solutions would not have the desired effect” – the City Roads Authority noted in the communiqué.

The tender was settled for the design of traffic lights at seven intersections. “We have already checked the offers of interested companies and we chose the most advantageous of them. The next step will be signing contracts with selected contractors. After the implementation of ready projects, we will improve safety at as many as 24 pedestrian crossings in five districts” – emphasized road workers.

Transition in Żoliborz estimated at 1

The new signaling will be designed, among others, for the intersection of Fr. Popiełuszki with Gojawiczyńska and Czaki Street. This will be dealt with by Swarco, which calculated the work at PLN 398 thousand. There are five pedestrian crossings. One by Gojawiczyńska Street managed by the district office, hence it was not subject to audit. In turn, three zebras leading through the street of Fr. Popiełuszki – including through the track – they were evaluated in the security audit at 1 (on a scale of 0-5). The passage of Czaki Street was rated the same.

The signaling will also be created at the intersection in Bemowo. We are talking about the intersection of Lazurowa Streets and 303 Squadron. Here the project will be prepared by Azet, which submitted an offer of PLN 326 thousand. “Lights will improve the smoothness of traffic at the intersection, but also safety. There are two pedestrian crossings. It was rated 4 by Lazurowa Street. In turn, it was through the street of 303 Padwizjonu 303 – it received a rating of 3” – the Municipal Roads Authority informed.

The tender was also included in the intersection of Marymoncka and Twardowska streets. Two passages run through Marymoncka Street, both through a wide road with two lanes. There is also a school nearby. “The lights will calm traffic and ensure pedestrian and other traffic participants,” said road workers. They will also be designed by Swarco, whose offer in this case amounted to PLN 272,000.

Transition to Targówek with the lowest note

Signaling projects will also be created for intersections in districts on the right side of the Vistula. Among other things, for two located along Wysockiego Street in Targówek. Azet will also design a signaling for both. The works will cost PLN 406,000. The first intersection is the intersection with Syrokomli Street, through which two transitions lead. Both received a rating of 4. Worse auditors evaluated the zebra through Wysockiego Street – on 2 and 3.

The second of these intersections is with Palestyńska Street. He has three transitions. Two were estimated at 3 – through Palestyńska Street and through the western road Wysockiego Street. The crossing through the eastern road was estimated at 0. Before crossing through Wysockiego Street, release thresholds were installed at this intersection. “However, this is an emergency solution,” the road workers pointed out.

Ad hoc solutions – shortening of passages, release thresholds – were also used last year at the intersections of Kijowska Street with Brzeska and Markowska streets. There are four transitions on both, including one through the track. “Low grades were mainly received by zebra through Kiev Street. At the intersection with Brzeska Street they were estimated at 3, 2, 1, and at the intersection with Markowska Street even worse – at 2, 1, 0” – mentioned ZDM. Now a traffic lights will be designed for both intersections. SWARCO will be responsible for the implementation of this task, which has submitted an offer of PLN 475,000.

The lights are getting closer

ZDM also reported that further investments related to traffic lights on the capital roads are being prepared. There is a tender for its construction, among others at the intersection of Powstańców Śląskich and Sternicza streets. “We are a step further in the case of the intersections of Woronicza and Spartanska and Wólczyńska and Nocznickie Streets. The works are already underway there. Lights will ensure their safety this year” – they emphasized.
