The first of the new viaducts of Trasa Łazienkowska at Agrykola is almost ready and undergoing load tests, the capital city hall announced on Tuesday afternoon. And he announced that in January the viaduct is to take over traffic in both directions. At that time, the southern viaduct will be closed and its demolition will begin.
Six trucks loaded with sand, each weighing 32 tons, entered the constructed viaduct of Trasa Łazienkowska. Total is almost two hundred tons. This is the beginning of the static load tests. The measurements also include the dynamic stage, during which vehicles drive over the viaduct – both on an even surface and over a threshold arranged perpendicularly to the axis of the road.
As the town hall explained in the communiqué, the results of the load tests are needed to allow the viaduct to be used. Decisions in this matter will be issued by the building supervision. If everything goes according to plan, already at the beginning of 2023 the northern viaduct will take over traffic in both directions. At that time, the demolition of the southern viaduct, on which the passage is currently taking place, will begin.
They’ve already paved
The northern viaduct consists of seven three-span frames. It measures nearly 400 meters long and 16 meters wide. Last week it ended there paving. The assembly of balustrades and energy-intensive barriers is in progress. Signage will also be available soon.
The reconstructed viaducts of Trasa Łazienkowska at Park Agrykola were built together with the rest of Trasa Łazienkowska and have been used since 1974. The new facilities will be more durable than their predecessors and will be equipped with bilateral pedestrian and bicycle routes, modern lighting and ramps improving the accessibility of Trasa Łazienkowska for people with mobility limitations. The investment carried out by the Warsaw City Development Board will last until March 2024.
