The 81 series wagons, which have been running in the Warsaw subway for over 25 years, are successively reaching the capital of Ukraine. A recording of their unloading was shared on social media.

In March, we reported on tvnwarszawa.pl about the agreement concluded between Warsaw and Kiev on the transfer of old metro trains to the capital of Ukraine. It is about 60 Russian wagons of the 81 series, i.e. 10 trains (the same trains run in Kiev)

Unloading and checking in progress

On Wednesday, a recording of the unloading of wagons delivered to the Ukrainian capital was made available on social media of the Warsaw Metro. On the other hand, on the Facebook page of the Kiev metro, we read that so far the Ukrainian company has received 18 cars, and by the end of this year it is planned to deliver another 42.

“Currently, the company’s specialists are successively inspecting and checking the received wagons, in particular the mechanical part. Despite the fact that the 81-717 series wagons also run on the lines of the Kiev Metro, there are a number of discrepancies that should be taken into account” – said the head of the Kiev Metro, quoted in the release Metro Viktor Braginsky.

They have been transporting Varsovians since 1995

Series 81 trains have been produced for Warsaw since 1989. They served passengers from the opening of the first line, and even earlier, when open days were organized with occasional transport. It is worth recalling that the first vehicle to set off on the route – from the Wilanowska station towards the University of Technology – was vehicle number 03. It consisted of three cars with numbers 005, 406, 006, and the inaugural run of this train took place on April 7, 1995.
