The capital city hall announced an architectural competition for the concept of developing the Stegna Center. A skating track and two ice halls will be created. Fast and figure skating, short-track, hockey, as well as curling will be available on them. There will also be something for lovers of roller skates and roller skates.
– We continue working on the modernization of the Stegna skating track, we have announced a competition for the architectural concept of the facility. We think about the center at Inspector Street as a complex of ice halls. We want to train fast, figure, short-track, ice hockey, as well as curling. The center will be able to be used by both competitors and residents and residents of the capital – said Renata Kaznowska, a deputy of the President of Warsaw, quoted in the announcement.
Fast and figure skating, short-track, hockey, curling
The announced competition includes the implementation of the architectural concept of the skating track hall and two ice halls for the Stegny Center in Warsaw, along with the concept of land development. His decision is scheduled for the beginning of 2025.
The modernization of the Stegna Center is planned with the support of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. As explained by the town hall, it would include co -financing the first stage of work. It assumes the construction of a building, housing the cloakroom and administrative facilities together with the hall with a fast skating track, which would accommodate 4,500 spectators. The hall will also be equipped with two full-size internal ice rinks for ice hockey, figure skating and short-track.
As added in the communiqué, in the next stage of work a hall will be created for ice hockey, figure driving and recreational driving with stands for 1,500 viewers. “The complex will be complemented by a training hall, which, in addition to the ice and figure skating ice rink, will have three curling tracks,” said the city hall.
Something for summer days
The city wants the resort not only for winter sports. With a view to summer disciplines, architects are designed to design a municipal roller track, a recreation area with the “Street Workout” outdoor gym, a roller skip track with an internal hockey playground for rollerblading hockey.
– The challenge is the right selection of the architectural form for the function of objects, as well as skilful incorporation of objects in the surroundings, and in particular the production of recognizable objects, unique in the capital and the whole country – he said, cited by the town hall Mariusz Budziszewski, councilor of Warsaw from the Citizens' Coalition Club.
One -stage competition
“The competition for making the architectural concept of the skating track hall and two ice halls for the Stegna Center is one -stage and limited, which means that the capital city hall is first waiting for applications for admission to the competition,” the city hall said. The deadline for submitting applications is March 31 at 15:00. The competition is conducted entirely electronically.
Participants admitted to the competition for the development of competition entries will have no less than 8 weeks from the day of inviting qualified participants to submit competition entries.
There are prizes in the competition. A total of PLN 500,000 was allocated to them. “The team that will take first place will receive PLN 200,000. The second prize will be PLN 150,000, and the third – PLN 100,000. The pool for awards is PLN 50,000” – mentioned the town hall. As added, the author of the victorious work will be invited to negotiate in a free -source order mode to perform project documentation based on the selected competition work.
Composition of the competition jury
The competition jury consists of 11 people. It includes representatives of the city: Vice President Renata Kaznowska responsible for both architecture and sport; Mariusz Budziszewski – chairman of the Sports, Recreation and Tourism Committee in the Council of the Capital City of Warsaw; Rafał Miastowski – mayor of Mokotów; Marcin Kraszewski – director of the Sports and Recreation Office; Katarzyna Łęgiewicz – director of the Warsaw Sports Center Active Warsaw; Aneta Wardzińska-Śiczek-architect, deputy director of the architecture and spatial planning office (BAIPP), Katarzyna Herman-architect, BAIPP.
The competition is recommended by the Association of Polish Architects, so SARP representatives sit on the jury: from the Krakow branch architect Marcin Brataniec, who acts as chairman of the competition court and from the Warsaw branch architect Rafał Sieraczyński. In turn, the clerk is architect Marcin Chruśniński. And the sports environment is represented by Konrad Niedźwiedzki, sports director of the Polish Fast Skating Association.
