A fragment of the road tunnel along Prymasa Tysiąclecia Avenue has been closed since Monday. The changed traffic organization will apply until the end of the summer.

– As announced, on Monday morning, drivers who used the tunnel faced difficulties – confirmed Mateusz Szmelter from tvnwarszawa.pl, who was on site.

He described that the part of the tunnel leading to the birthplace of the Siberian Exiles had been closed. Already past the Tybetu roundabout, the roadway has been narrowed to two lanes (only buses can use the third lane), and at the height of the Armatnia 01 bus stop, drivers are directed to the central aisle of the ditch.

Drivers have two lanes at their disposal: one for going left and straight, and the other for going straight and right. Particular attention must be paid to road markings. Changing direction – after exiting the tunnel – is no longer possible.

There are also delays for those traveling in the opposite direction. According to the city hall’s announcement, drivers turning left from Aleje Jerozolimskie (from the direction of Włochy) into Aleja Prymasa Tysiąclecia are directed to the eastern part of the tunnel.

After leaving the tunnel under the Zesłańców Syberyskich roundabout, they have to cross to the other carriageway using a specially built connector. The second lane of this carriageway is available for those turning right from Aleje Jerozolimskie (from Śródmieście) into Aleja Prymasa Tysiąclecia and for those going straight from Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 Street.

New bus lanes

Public transport passengers have it a bit easier. New bus lanes have been marked out: on the right lane of Prymasa Tysiąclecia Avenue, behind the Tybetu roundabout to the Armatnia 01 stop, on Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 Street, in front of the Zesłańców Siberiach roundabout, and on the right lane of Sokołowskiego “Grzymały” Street leading towards the Zachodni Railway Station, on the section from Białobrzeska to Aleje Jerozolimskie.

In addition to public transport buses, it can also be used by taxis, vehicles of the Municipal Transport for the Disabled, motorcycles and ambulances

“The closure of the western part of the tunnel will last until the end of the summer,” the city hall announces.
