Mokotów criminals detained a 38-year-old suspected of stealing several thousand zlotys from one of the apartments he was renovating. In addition, he was wanted by the court to serve a sentence of 10 months in prison for previous thefts. According to the spokesman of the district headquarters, the man who was the most surprised by the situation was a man who hired a specialist wanted by the police to renovate his apartment.

– When the policemen knocked on the door of one of the apartments on Batuty in Mokotów, the most surprised was the owner of the apartment, who hired a 38-year-old for renovation works and was convinced that he was employing a specialist. As it turned out, he took a recidivist under the roof. During the intervention, he learned that the inconspicuous looking man had already been sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment for apartment thefts and was wanted by police officers from Mokotów to steal several thousand zlotys and a power bank, which he took from one of the apartments he is renovating on Turecka Street, reports the spokesman for the Mokotów command, Robert Koniuszy.

As he adds, the 38-year-old detained admitted to the crime: – He explained that he had stolen the first money from his apartment at Turecka Street. In his opinion, there could be about nine thousand zlotys in total. He stole the money on the third day after the renovation works started.

The police found a power bank and headphones for the phone by the suspect. He explained to them that he had also taken these things from the apartment from which he had taken cash. – The man had three thousand zlotys in cash with him, which were also secured, and the entrepreneurial specialist was arrested by the police. Now, to the conviction he already has, the Mokotów court may add him another five years for the current crime, says Koniuszy.

And he also calls for caution: – It is worth verifying and carefully checking who is employed for this type of work. Often times, such people are left alone in the apartment they are renovating. It would be appropriate to draw up a contract with the professional you employ, obtain his personal data and check it for your own safety.
