Installation of over 100 electronic boards at tram stops has begun. Several new features have been installed.

– At the beginning of September, we began expanding the system with 101 additional boards, which appear in various parts of the tram network. The first ones are already operational – informed Witold Urbanowicz, spokesman for Tramwaje Warszawskie.

The displays are already making travel easier for passengers using the stops: Rondo StarzyÅ„skiego and Å»eraÅ„ FSO and on Grochowska – between GocÅ‚awek and Wiatraczna. The devices are connected to the network and display tram departures in real time. The expansion of the system will be completed no later than the first quarter of 2025.

Urbanowicz explained that the newly launched boards resemble the screens already familiar to passengers. However, a number of new features have been introduced, including a noise sensor with volume control, night mode for voice announcements, support for other languages through voice announcements, generation of automatic messages about detecting disruptions to traffic on a given line. Some pictograms have also been changed (e.g. departure from a stop – a blinking figure), as well as markings signaling a stop in traffic (from the symbol “???” to “STOP”).

Seven-year warranty

The contractor for the expansion of the passenger information system will be responsible for maintaining the new boards, servicing and warranty repairs. The scope of services includes: changing the names of stops, cleaning and washing boards, replacing SIM cards, removing faults and failures. A seven-year warranty period applies.

Next year there will be 350 new displays in Warsaw.
