Warsaw. New trains ordered for Koleje Mazowiecki are already on the tracks

For over PLN 2 billion, the local government of the Masovian Voivodeship purchased 61 five-unit electric multiple units. On Monday, it was announced that all purchased trains are now running on the tracks in the colors of Koleje Mazowieckie. – No one has announced such a large and expensive order before us – said Deputy Marshal Rafał Rajkowski.

The new trains already carry passengers on five routes: Warsaw–Działdowo; Sochaczew–Warszawa–Celestynów with the possibility of servicing the Warszawa Rembertów–Zielonka station; Skierniewice–Warsaw–Mińsk Mazowiecki; Góra Kalwaria–Czachówek–Warszawa–Nasielsk and Warsaw–Tłuszcz.

Over PLN 2 billion

As Marshal Adam Struzik emphasized, both the value of the contract, the number of ordered trains and the ride comfort are very impressive. – These are modern and comfortable trains. The cooperation and implementation of the contract, even though it took place during the difficult period of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, ran very smoothly and without delays, said the Marshal.

The value of the order is over PLN 2 billion, co-financing from the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program 2014-2020 amounted to almost PLN 717 million, and co-financing from the Regional Operational Program of the Masovian Voivodeship 2014-2020 – PLN 96 million.

In 2017, Koleje Mazowieckie announced a tender for the purchase of 61 five-car trains and their 18-year maintenance service. In January 2018, an agreement was signed with the selected contractor – Stadler Polska.

71 FLIRT multiple units

Vice-Marshal Rafał Rajkowski pointed out that both the concluded contract and the order itself were groundbreaking on the Polish railway market. “No one has announced such a large and expensive order before us. It was successfully completed and KM passengers can now ride in modern FLIRTs,” he added.

Koleje Mazowieckie announced that, including the units delivered by Stadler in 2008, there are currently 71 FLIRT electric multiple units manufactured by Stadler in the KM rolling stock. All vehicles were manufactured at the Stadler Polska plant in Siedlce.

The president of the management board of Stadler Polska, Tomasz Prejs, emphasized that despite numerous obstacles, all vehicles were delivered on time.

“During the implementation of this project, we experienced many problems resulting first from the pandemic, then intensified by the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. However, the commitment of our team and good cooperation with the local government of the Masovian Voivodeship allowed Koleje Mazowieckie to deliver all the ordered vehicles within the contractual deadline. I would like to thank our client for their trust and good cooperation. cooperation. I am proud that our modern and comfortable FLIRT vehicles contribute to improving the quality of rail travel in the region,” he said.

A modern service facility

In May 2022, as part of cooperation with Koleje Mazowieckie, a modern service facility was opened, where maintenance and servicing of new FLIRT vehicles is provided. The investor of the Sochaczew base is Stadler Service Polska, and the investment value was PLN 22 million.

– For years, we have been maintaining FLIRT vehicles delivered to Koleje Mazowieckie as part of the order from 2006, and now also the latest third-generation vehicles. The result is the highest reliability indicators of KM’s FLIRT vehicle fleet, which translates into passenger comfort and the carrier’s transport results. We are glad that our cooperation with Koleje Mazowieckie is going so well – said Marcin Polit, managing director of Stadler Service Polska.

President of the Management Board of KM, Robert Stępień, emphasized that the KM is planning further investments and purchases of new modern vehicles, which will certainly contribute significantly to increasing the level of safety and quality of railway transport in the region.
