In the first match of the qualifying phase of the European football championship, the finals of which will be played in 2024 in Germany, Poland played against the Czech Republic in Prague on Friday. From 18:30, entry to Saska Kępa will be restricted. until 20:45, the areas limited by the following streets will be excluded from individual traffic: al. Poniatowskiego, al. Washington, ul. International, al. of the United States and Wał Miedzeszyński and al. of the United States, Wał Miedzeszyński, African and Bora-Komorowskiego. The restrictions will not apply to vehicles of people with ID badges (for residents of Saska Kępa), ZTM vehicles, taxis and two-wheeled vehicles.

Closed streets, changes in communication

Depending on the current situation, the police may decide to close individual streets. In the event of closure of ul. Sokola, from ul. Zamość to the Szczecin Coast, from 18:30 until the end of the distribution of fans (around 23:00), buses 102, 125 and 202 will go along Targowa and Kijowska streets to the Dw. Wschodni (Kijowska) terminus, and 146 and 147 along Wybrzeże Szczecińskie and Zamoście.

If Sokola, Zamoście and Zamoyskiego streets are closed, lines 102, 125, 135, 146, 147 and 202 will be diverted to detour routes. 135 will go to Targowa, and 146 and 147 – al. Zieleniecka.

Back from the match

If after the end of the match, after 22:15, a large group of fans will want to go to the center on foot, the police may decide to close the Poniatowski Bridge and Al. Jerozolimskie – on the section from the Washington roundabout to the de Gaulle roundabout.

If the crossing is closed to traffic, trams and buses of the Warsaw Public Transport will be diverted to the detour routes. Lines 7 and 25 will travel over the Śląsko-Dąbrowski bridge. Trams of lines 9 and 24 on the downtown side will end their routes at the pl. Starynkiewicza, and on the Praga side to Ratuszowa-Zoo. Line 22 on the left bank of the Vistula will go from Piaski to pl. Starynkiewicza, while on the other side it will run in the loop: Wiatraczna – al. Zieleniecka – al. Washington – Wiatraczna.

In addition, a replacement bus line Z-9 will be launched on the route: pl. Zawiszy – Al. Jerozolimskie – New World – Al. Ujazdowskie – Łazienkowska Route – Łazienkowski Bridge – Wał Miedzeszyński – Winners – Saska – al. J. Washington – Wiatraczna.

Bus lines 111, 117, 158, 166, 507, 521, N22, N24 and N72 will bypass the closed part of the routes via the Łazienkowski bridge.

After the match, additional buses of line 509 will run on the route. From the Washington roundabout (from stops 03 and 04, respectively) you will be able to go to Gocław and Winnica.

There will also be more trams. Trams of line 9 will carry passengers on the changed route: Gocławek – al. Washington – al. Zieleniecka – Targowa – Ratuszowa – Jagiellońska – Ratuszowa – ZOO. On the other hand, line 26 trains will run from al. Zieleniecka in the direction of Metro Młociny.

The frequency of the M2 metro line will also be increased – both towards the Bemowo and Bródno stations.

Free rides

Holders of match tickets, invitations and accreditations issued by UEFA are entitled to free travel on Warsaw Public Transport vehicles (buses, trams, metro, SKM) and on Koleje Mazowieckie and Warszawskie Koleje Dojazdowa trains within the 1st ZTM ticket zone. In addition, it is possible to use the Park and Ride car parks free of charge, from March 27, from 6:00, to March 28, 2:00 p.m. 1:00.
