The emergency call of the Warsaw City Guard received a report about a hole in the road on Żelazna Street. Cars fell into the gap one by one. Officers from the 4th Regional Department joined the action.
The guards found a large sinkhole in the asphalt. In a hole of over one and a half meters and two meters deep, old cobblestones and forgotten tram tracks were revealed.
“Nearby, there were damaged vehicles of drivers who did not notice the trap in the darkness. The guards immediately placed a police car with flashing lights in front of the hole, marking the dangerous place, and went to the drivers to ask if they were okay,” the city guard said in a statement.
Only cars were damaged when faced with the hole. A road ambulance was called to the scene. “Formalities related to providing the owners of damaged vehicles with the documents needed to obtain compensation were handled by the police,” it concluded.
There are four times as many potholes in the capital
Earthquakes holes on the roads Every Warsaw driver has experienced frost in recent weeks. – Water that thaws during the day freezes at night and bursts the surfaces, which are – to put it mildly – cracked. This is a very big problem – admitted Wiktor Wojewódzki, director of the Road Renovation and Maintenance Plant in Warsaw, in an interview with a TVN24 reporter.
There are almost four times more potholes in the capital than in recent years. – There are about 150 to 250 reports a day – Wojewódzki said.
