The Council of Warsaw decided to lodge a complaint against the governor’s order regarding the Unguarded Paid Parking Zone in Saska Kępa and Kamionek. City councilors approved the ordinance on Thursday.

A week ago, on Friday, the Mazowieckie Voivode annulled the resolution introducing the paid parking zone in Kamionek and Saska Kępa in its entirety. At the Thursday session, the councilors decided to appeal against the voivode’s decision to the Provincial Administrative Court.

On Monday, at a conference organized by the capital city hall, the vice-president of Warsaw, Michał Olszewski, pointed out that the city is not only surprised by the questioning of the resolution, but above all by its justification.

– We are very surprised by the mode in which the voivode is doing this. Because, unlike usual, the voivode did not ask a single question, he did not ask for any detail – said Olszewski. – It happens very rarely that, without any analysis, the voivode makes a decision based solely on the materials that appeared in the media and on the submitted draft resolution and minutes from the session of the Warsaw Council – he added.

Voivode’s arguments

The Mazowieckie Voivode, informing on Friday that the resolution of the city council on the SPPN was declared invalid, cited as the reason, among others, the residents’ objection, lack of current analyzes, and the incorrect way of adopting the resolution.

“Decision preceded by research”

On March 9, the Council of Warsaw – with the votes of the Civic Coalition and the New Left – decided o inclusion of Saska Kępa and Kamionka in the Paid Unguarded Parking Zone. Law and Justice councilors were against it.

The town hall reminded that the decision was preceded by extensive research into the parking situation in the area. Detailed solutions were consulted with the residents.
