Police officers from Śródmieście arrested a 40-year-old man suspected of stealing jewelry worth nearly PLN 2,000. The image of the man was recorded by a camera installed in the store.
Robert Szumiata, press officer of the downtown police station, said that the theft took place at the beginning of February this year. – An unknown perpetrator at the time, taking advantage of the saleswoman’s inattention, stole a gold brooch worth nearly two thousand zlotys during the jewelry presentation. The moment of the crime was recorded by a camera installed in the store, Szumiata reported.
The image of the suspect captured by the camera was sent to all patrols. – The man was recognized by police officers from the downtown operational and reconnaissance department. The criminals boarded the bus with the 40-year-old and confirmed the man’s identity by checking the documents he had with him, explained the spokesman for the downtown police.
The 40-year-old was charged with theft. Under the Criminal Code, he now faces up to five years in prison.
