The driver of the white Maserati did not stop for an inspection in Praga Północ. When he started to run away, a police chase began, ending in Białołęka. The police said that the man abandoned the car and started running away on foot. When he was arrested, the police breathalyzer showed that he was drunk.
– Around 12.15, police officers from the Road Traffic Department of the Capital Police Headquarters on Jagiellońska Street stopped the driver of the Maserati, who started to run away. The police began a pursuit, during which other police officers joined in. The driver of the Maserati collided with other vehicles while escaping, and finally left his vehicle on Modlińska Street and started to flee on foot – Rafał Markiewicz from the KSP press team told us after 1 p.m.
As the policeman added, the man was detained and tested for alcohol content in his body. – It turned out to be about 2.5 per mille. Activities are still ongoing on site, he concluded.
Damaged cars and police cars
As tvnwarszawa.pl reporter Artur Węgrzynowicz found out, the chase ended on Modlińska, at number 158 on the road towards Legionowo, just behind the Northern Bridge route. – There are six damaged cars, plus one unmarked BMW police car and the perpetrator’s car, making a total of eight cars – our reporter calculated.
He assessed that the Maserati was badly damaged, its front was broken, its side was scratched, and its airbags had deployed. – The chase ended when the driver started pushing between other cars on Modlińska Street. One lane is blocked. There are two emergency medical teams on site, and among the people examined are police officers, Węgrzynowicz said.
He added that the police are also working on crashed cars located several hundred meters ahead. – There’s also a wrecked police car there. One person has already gone to the hospital in an ambulance. The Maserati driver was detained and handcuffed, he concluded.
