According to the press officer of the Warsaw IV District Police Headquarters, Marta Sulowska, officers from the Bemowo police station received a report of a break-in and theft of a Mercedes, worth about PLN 25,000. The car was parked in the public parking lot.
Police officers from the criminal division established the identity of the man suspected of stealing. – Outside of Warsaw, the 46-year-old was arrested in a nearby town. Initially, he did not want to open the door for them, but when the fire brigade was called, the man opened it. During the search of the apartment, the police revealed the keys to three vehicles, Sulowska informed. – After checking the police databases, it turned out that one of these vehicles, the BMW brand, was stolen in Belgium – she added.
It was found that the same man had previously notified police about the break-in and theft of his vehicle. It was about Toyota. – Then he reported that the theft of the vehicle occurred while he was at the cinema. Criminal investigators looked at the case reported by the 46-year-old. Important details have come to light which have challenged the applicant’s testimony. The man wanted to extort compensation from the insurer, so he “faked” the theft of the car, which he confessed during an interview with criminals – Sulowska said.
The 46-year-old heard three allegations about the giving false testimony, notifying about an unfinished crime, burglary and receiving stolen goods. From the prosecutor’s office, he was taken straight to prison because he was wanted by a court in Białystok to serve eight months’ imprisonment for theft.
