Warsaw. Police: took equipment from the store where he worked to furnish the apartment

Police officers from Warsaw's Wola district detained a man who allegedly stole goods worth several thousand zlotys to equip his apartment with electronic equipment.

Police officers from Wola received a report of a theft.

– Initial information showed that the criminal activity had been going on for a long time. It was an electronics store. The total value of losses was estimated at over PLN 19,000, said Marta Sulowska, spokeswoman for the Wola police.

He had two ways of doing things

Initial information indicated that one of the store's employees, who was no longer working there at the time of the report, may be related to the theft.

– It turned out that the former employee had been working for almost two months, previously preparing the equipment he was interested in. These included vacuum cleaners, a coffee machine, mobile phones, adapters and monitors – says the policewoman.

The man, Sulowska adds, was supposed to take the goods out of the store under the pretext of accepting another one, so that no one would notice. – Another time he was supposed to take the equipment out of the boxes, put them back in their place, and the goods were delivered to his apartment – says Sulowska.

He had the stolen equipment at home

The police detained a 28-year-old man. The stolen equipment was located in his apartment and was used by the man.

Evidence has been collected in the case. The suspect was charged with theft. He faces five years in prison.
