On Saturday evening, participants in the Praska Piątka and the next edition of the Praski Half Marathon will run through the streets of Warsaw. The Public Transport Authority announces changes to the traffic and running of buses and trams.
As in previous editions, the running town, as well as the start and finish lines of the competition will be set up on the grounds of the National Stadium. For this reason, it will not be possible to enter the parking lot in front of the stadium until September 8.
First the “Prague Five”…
The participants of the Prague Five will start on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and will run through the streets of: Zamoyski, Jagiellońska, Okrzeja, Szczecin Coast and Sokoła. Due to the race, around 7:00 PM, Zamoyskiego, Jagiellońska and Okrzei streets will be closed. Drivers will be able to pass through here again after 9:30 PM. Sokola and Wybrzeże Szczecińskie streets will also be closed between 7:00 PM and midnight. During this time, drivers coming from the zoo will have to turn into Ratuszowa Street.
…then a half marathon
Also on Saturday at 8:30 PM, participants of the 9th Night Half Marathon in Prague will start. Competitors will run through the streets of: Zamoyskiego, Jagiellońska, Okrzei and Wybrzeże Szczecińskie Street to Wał Miedzeszyński. Due to the race, the Wał Miedzeszyński towards Wawer, from the Poniatowski Bridge to Kadetów, from Kadetów to Fieldorf “Nil” and from Zwycięzców to the Poniatowski Bridge will be closed to traffic between 20:00 and midnight. During the competition, residents of Gocław will be able to reach the Łazienkowski Bridge or drive to Saska Kępa via the Wał Miedzeszyński.
On the streets of Gocław from 8:00 p.m., between Wał Miedzeszyński and Umińskiego streets, the carriageway of Fieldorfa “Nila” street leading towards Ostrobramska will be closed. Traffic will return here at around 10:30 p.m. Until then, exit from Meissnera, Bora-Komorowskiego, Abrahama and Umińskiego streets will be possible only to the right, and those driving from Ostrobramska will have to turn into Umińskiego. In turn, between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Bora-Komorowskiego street and the carriageway of Abrahama street towards Bora-Komorowskiego will be impassable. Egipska and Saska streets will remain closed a little longer, until 11:30 p.m.
At 8:00 PM, Zwycięzców and Francuska streets will be closed. From now on, two-way traffic will be introduced on the one-way sections of Walecznych, Lipska and Berezyńska streets. Also at 8:00 PM, both carriageways of Washington Avenue will be closed. Already at Wiatraczna roundabout, only drivers going to Kinowa Street will be allowed into the avenue.
They will close the Świętokrzyski Bridge
During the half marathon, From approximately 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. the Świętokrzyski Bridge will be closed. In turn, from 20:00-24:00, the Poniatowski Bridge roadway leading towards Grochów will also be closed to traffic. Drivers coming from the city centre will have to exit the crossing onto Wisłostrada. On the other bank, the bridge will only be accessible from Aleja Zieleniecka. During the same hours, drivers will not exit the Łazienkowskiego and Siekierkowski Bridges onto Wał Miedzeszyński (in both directions). Drivers on Wał Miedzeszyński from the Gocław direction will only be able to access Trasa Łazienkowska.
Parking restrictions will apply on the following streets: Jagiellońska, Okrzeja, “short” Sokoła, Francuska, Zwycięzców, Walecznych, Lipska and Berezyńska (between Washington and Francuska avenues), Saska (in front of Zwycięzców), Egipska, Abrahama and Wał Miedzeszyński (in the bay by the swimming pools).
Detours for buses and trams
During the competition, Warsaw Public Transport buses and trams will be directed to detour routes. The first to go, around 7 p.m., when the Praska Piątka route is closed to traffic, will be buses of the following lines: 100, 102, 125, 135, 146, 147, 162 and 202From approximately 8:00 p.m., after closing the remaining streets on the route of the Night Praski Half Marathon, the following bus lines will operate on changed routes: 100, 102, 111, 117, 123, 125, 135, 138, 146, 147, 148, 158, 162, 166, 168, 202, 213, 219, 507, 509, 521 and night N02, N03, N14, N22, N24, N64, N72.
Additionally, trams of the line 9 and 24 they will not run along Washington Avenue, but only along Zieleniecka Avenue, Zamoyskiego and Grochowska streets.
