It was established at the beginning of the 20th century, for 17 years it has been a branch of the Warsaw Uprising Museum. The Warsaw Fotoplastikon celebrates his next birthday. They will be an opportunity to immerse themselves in the pre -war capital, which will allow numerous exhibitions.

There are already over 10,000 three -dimensional photographs in the collection of photoplastikone: from photos documenting exotic travels around the world from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, through Warsaw at various historical periods, to contemporary work of famous authors. “Stereoscopic photography collections are rich and successively expanded with subsequent collections. Thematic exhibitions are changed at least once a month, while every Sunday and Monday a constant exhibition of photos of former Warsaw is presented” – described the town hall in the communiquĂ©.

But Fotoplastikon is not only an unusual gallery of three -dimensional photos. Chamber concerts, city games, workshops and museum lessons, as well as conferences are also held there. It is also a place for the scenery for films, programs and reports about old Warsaw.

He appeared and disappeared

The Warsaw Fotoplastikon was created at the beginning of the 20th century and operated throughout the centuries with breaks. At first, he was called a miracle of technology, which delighted regularly with the changed programs. From 1946, he has its location in the historic Hoser tenement house at Aleje Jerozolimskie 51. It became a symbol of the lost city, one of the few places displaying colorful images that reminded about the destroyed capital, as well as a small window to the world from behind the iron curtain.

A decade later, he received the name of bikinathic breeding grounds, who arrived at the permanent address in Aleje, only to buy foreign music from under the counter or in Sing-Sing socks to go crazy at the dance party organized in the yard of the age of the tenement house.

In 2008, the facility was looked after by the Warsaw Uprising Museum and has permanently returned to the city's cultural map. It became an element of Warsaw's identity.
