Warsaw. Prince William laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

An unannounced visit of Prince William, heir to the British throne, to Poland is underway. On Thursday, the Prince of Wales laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Later, he will meet with President Andrzej Duda.

On Thursday before 11 am, Prince William laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Flowers were laid in the same place by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip of Edinburgh during their state visit to Poland in 1996.

Prince William arrived in Poland for an unannounced visit on Wednesday. In Rzeszów, he met with British and Polish soldiers stationed there, as well as with the Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak.

Then he went to Warsaw, where Together with the mayor of the city, Rafał Trzaskowski, he visited a stay point for Ukrainian refugees.

Meeting with President Duda and conversation with young refugees

On Thursday, the heir to the throne will meet with President Andrzej Duda. The head of the Bureau of International Policy, Marcin Przydacz, announced that the meeting with the president would take place before noon.

“The trip will end with a visit by the Prince of Wales to Hala Koszyki, where he will talk to young refugees from Ukraine who, after escaping, settled in Warsaw and found work or continue their education. He will listen to their experiences of settling in Poland and their hopes for the future. The meeting will also be attended by members of the Polish community who welcomed displaced Ukrainians under their roof. The prince will learn about their experiences related to the refugee crisis and will thank them and their families for their hospitality and kindness.
